Features

The EMP series was developed in response to our customer’s needs for a simpler method to measure gas-borne mercury at sites. Since the main body weighs less than 2 kg, the light-weight and compact body can be safely carried to and handled in high places by the use of a waist belt and a shoulder strap. The integrated battery allows for approximately 5 hours of continuous operation when fully charged, and the battery can be easily replaced. Additionally, the equipment uses a color LCD touch panel, which enables intuitive and easy operation with a single finger. By adopting the cold vapor atomic absorption spectroscopy, real-time measurement with higher accuracy is realized.

Applications

The typical measuring opportunities include fluorescent lamps manufacturing, crushing and re-cycling; mercury concentration monitoring in the facility workplace; hazardous waste inspection and screening; and workplace/worker safety and hygiene survey.

Additionally, by using with the equipment with the optional gas-borne mercury pretreatment equipment (WLE-8), you can continuously measure mercury in flue gas. This system is called SGM-8 as a unit. If you combine 2 units, you can easily measure mercury in flue gas in any form (SGM-8T: Total elemental vapor phase mercury, SGM-8E: Metal mercury).

Also, by combining the series with the optional reducing-vaporization unit (AQUA kit), you can perform simplified reducing-vaporization measurement for mercury in a liquid sample at the site.

Measurement flow

Once the measurement has started, a fixed amount of gas (sample gas) in the working environment is continuously taken into the equipment from the tip of the probe until the measurement completes. The measurement continues while the equipment is automatically performing zero point adjustment on a periodical basis. Cold-vapor atomic absorption spectroscopy at wavelength 253.7nm is adopted for detection.
